Development Operations and Database Manager

Compensation

$42,000 annually

Shakespeare & Company seeks an organized, hands-on, and motivated individual to be our Development Operations and Database Manager beginning as soon as possible.

Reporting to the Director of Development, and working closely with the Manager of Individual Giving, the Development Operations Manager will provide administrative and logistical support for the Development office, including managing the operations of the office, maintaining the Development calendar and administrative organizations, managing data in the donor database, accurate and timely processing of gifts, generating reports and mailing lists, producing thank you letters, helping plan and staff donor events, and assisting with Board of Trustees communications and materials.

 

This position works in multi-faceted operations of a comprehensive and integrated Development Department and will require regular contact with a variety of external and internal constituencies, including staff, donors, patrons, and members of the Board of Trustees. This is a year-round, full-time position, and benefits include paid vacation, health insurance, and retirement plan.

 

The incumbent will have strong attention to detail, effective written and oral communication skills, and experience in managing databases. The successful candidate will also be a collaborative member of the Development team and a strategic, flexible, positive, and curious thinker. SUPERVISOR(S): Director of Development

SCHEDULE: weekdays typical with some weekend and evenings, especially in the summer season

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Support all operational aspects of the Development Department and the administrative work of the Development team.
  • Oversee the calendar of mailings, events, meetings, and all Development related outreach.
  • Process donations using Raiser’s Edge database, including accurate database entry, coding and copying of gifts, and upkeep for all individual and institutional gifts, as received.
  • Manage of database as well as continuing to develop use of Raiser’s Edge.
  • Generate acknowledgement letters and pledge reminders.
  • Generate donor data analysis reports and donor tracking.
  • Generate mailing lists for direct mail and e-appeals.
  • Prepare donor lists for inclusion in the annual season program book and assist in compilation of other program book content.
  • Reconcile Development expenses and income with the Finance Department.
  • Assist in direct mail appeals for annual support as well as education and training programs, and special campaigns.
  • Assist in all Development events.
  • Assist Manager of Individual Giving as liaison to donors by providing personal assistance for box office requests and other services, as necessary.
  • Communicate with donors via phone and letters on renewals, thank you calls, and follow-up to donor invitations.
  • Aid in the preparation of materials for quarterly board meetings, and update board notebook, contact lists, and other board materials.
  • Assist with other office administrative tasks such as answering calls, filing, and ordering supplies.

  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft office proficiency, familiarity with Raiser’s Edge preferred.

  • Completion of a COVID-19 vaccine regimen and booster, if eligible.
Compensation
This Full-time Exempt position will receive compensation in the range of $42,000 annually. Benefits include paid time-off, health insurance options including 75% contribution towards individual’s health insurance, 403(b) with TIAA-CREF including a company match after two year’s employment, medical FSA, and discounts on company programs.
