John Douglas Thompson is a Tony nominated actor based in New York City. Recent performances include King Lear on Broadway, the HBO series Mare of Easttown and The Gilded Age, and The Tempest at Commonwealth Shakespeare Company. He has appeared in August Wilson’s Jitney produced by the Manhattan Theatre Club. Thompson has also appeared with various theatre companies on and off-Broadway, as well as regional and local theatre, including Shakespeare & Company. Select performances at the Company include Merchant of Venice, Othello, Richard III, and King Lear. He is an alumnus of the Center for Actor Training program and is a graduate of Trinity Rep Conservatory. He has served on the Shakespeare & Company board since 2006.
